Youth Programs at CBI
CBI has long been known across Southern California for our vibrant, active, and highly engaged Youth Department which engages youth of all ages. One of the largest and strongest programs in the region, our USY has repeatedly been awarded "Chapter of Excellence" distinction.
If you would like to get involved with the Youth Department at CBI or have any questions, please contact Melanie Edwards, Youth Director, at youth@cbi18.org.
Machar (K-3rd)/Kadima (4-6th)
We host a variety of creative, exciting, and Jewishly meaningful programs for our Machar and Kadima kids.
We meet once a month for events which incorporate Jewish values and holidays, entertainment, social action projects, and the start of leadership building skills.
USY (7th - 12th)
United Synagogue Youth (USY) is the international youth organization of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. USY provides a local place for teens in grades 7-12 to get together in a safe Jewish environment. We provide leadership training, social action opportunities, religious and Israel experiences, and lots of fun. Our chapter hosts a monthly Shabbat dinner on the first Friday of every month as well as social events throughout the month. We also provide the option for our members to participate at the regional level, which includes weekend retreats, leadership events, and annual conventions. CBI USY is one of the largest in the Far West Region, which consists of 40 chapters over six states.
