CBI Solar Carport Ribbon Cutting (October 29, 2023)
CLIMATE ACTION
Recognizing the existential threat and moral urgency of climate change, CBI joined Adamah’s Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition. Adamah awarded CBI a $10K grant for LED lights in 2024, a $36K grant and $100K zero interest loan for solar carports in 2023, and a $6K grant for digital thermostats in 2022.
We are proud to demonstrate leadership and join the hundreds of other Jewish nonprofits that have gone solar. CBI is expected to save $1.46 million in electric fees over the life of the solar carports. CBI’s electric usage has dropped by at least 10,000 kW each month from the previous year due to our solar installation.
The expected payback period is 6 years. CBI qualified for a cash payment from the federal government for 30% of the cost of the installation.
Over 100 CBI families have donated to our solar carports. About $150K is still needed to completely fund the project with donations, grants, and federal payments.
CBI’s Climate Action Fund supports projects including solar, the next phase of our LED light conversion, and other climate action projects.
